PROPOSED 370 HOUSES FOR HAWKWELL

Many of you will have been to the David Wilson Homes (parent company Barratt Homes) Exhibition at Clements Hall.

This is not a Council sponsored event, Rochford District Council have reduced the proposed allocation of houses for Hawkwell West from 330 to 175 as a direct result of residents’ objections.  David Wilson Homes does not agree with this and wants to build 375 houses in a massive housing estate stretching from Clements Hall Way right across to Thorpe Road, with access from the already over stretched Rectory Road.  As shown at previously held public meetings in the area, the vast majority of residents do not want any major development at all.

Environment - Regardless of what is promised by developers we would see the loss of our semi rural location, wildlife, green fields and green gaps and many, many trees.  The proposed area is a natural nature reserve in its own right.

Traffic - Given the distance from rail stations and shops and the fact that people have to go about their business, how many more vehicle movements would this development put on the area, 1,000 or more per day?  Nursery Corner is a bottleneck now and there is very little scope for road
widening, if any.

vPublic Transport - Regardless of what is promised by developers any subsidy for extra buses is unlikely to last long term.

To get this development stopped in its tracks it is not enough to just put objections on a piece of paper given to us by a developer.  We are asking residents with objections to write to David Wilson Homes and to please copy Local Independent Councillor John Mason so that he can make Rochford District Council aware of our objections too.
